Two Quick Pix.

Some of you had been wondering where poor Rico got to, and oh you never need fear, he is always here, above the armoire, gazing lovingly at the new Emma Lou. Also, here's a quick snap of the new dinner room chairs. Better pix to come!

What a coincidence! I was just over at Toast and Tables (stripes post) and she had a picture of a dining room that reminded me of your dining chairs and table! So I hopped over here to tell you, and lo and behold, you have posted the end result! I love it! and Rico to!

Wow, I'm so impressed by your vision. You knew those would be the perfect chairs with the table, and you were right--they glow, and they make the table glow. Amazing.

I find this very inspirational because I'm taking baby steps towards decorating our new apartment in Cambridge (I just posted pics on my blog; a scary move that I hope will motivate me), and I need to develop a lot of that type of vision. All my husband's furniture is of the heavily-carved-dark-antique-wood school, and all I brought to the marriage, house-wise, was a kitchen full of cooking stuff, 20 boxes of books, and a bunch of small prints and paintings. Oh, and two side chairs plus a walnut side table and a lamp from the Time & Life building in NYC. Still, I have a long way to go in lightening up our 1901 uber-Edwardian apartment! I seem to have bad flea market juju, which I think is the first thing to solve?

How did you get to the vision for the chairs and table? Did it spring fully-formed into your mind?

Your lovely home is totally inspirational. I'm trying to pull together our new apartment (see pics on my blog) and have been wishfully thinking about tulip chairs and an Eames lounge chair. Thanks for the beautiful post...as usual.

A bit off-topic . . . Your photos are always great - what kind of camera do you use? Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, I did a search and couldn't find it.

thank you everyone! rico's very happy up there.

kate - i get my inspiration from lots of places - books, films, magazines, other blogs. i think the place to start is to start tearing out, or keeping track of looks you like and it may help you figure out what your sense of design style is, and what will work for you. just kind of study them, and see where your pieces could work in a way that you admire in the photos, or magazine pages.

anon - my camera is a fairly inexpensive Sony 6.0 megapixel Cybershot. It's lightweight and does pretty well. Ironic you would ask this on this post - as these are not my best shots! :)

when you buy a digital camera - ask what extras they will throw in. i was offered extra memory and a free HP printer (with rebate). i bought mine at Staples.
