Sunday In The City.

Today, a trip to the Musee Mechanique. These ancient coin-operated
musical instruments and antique arcade machines used to live at the
Cliff House, but now are housed in a old wharf warehouse. Poor old things.

Palm of her hand.

Rock 'em, sock 'em.

Seeking fame and fortune.

Sitting pretty.

Pay per view.

Photos and a booth.

Careful, sailor.

Wow...thank you for the trip down memory lane. My grandparents, who lived in the Sunset District, often took me out to Ocean Beach and the Cliff House when I visited. The arcade was always a highlight (even though it sort of creeped me out a bit as a child)...such nostalgia. Thank you!!!

P.S. I had no idea musee mecanique existed...I can't wait to go on our next SF visit

I love this place!

Before I graduated I interviewed the owner (a real sweet guy who inherited the machines from his father who WON his first machine and subsequently purchased the rest with the pennies deposited.

I think the multimedia piece is archived here...

I knew they were going to close the one at the Cliff House. Do you have any information for us, so I can visit next time? Address, open to public?
