Sunset Visits Dan & Eszter.

There's a great article about living green in the May issue Sunset Magazine, featuring my great friends Dan & Eszter Rabin. You might recognize Eszter as the creator behind Emma Rose Papery, custom letterpress stationery and invitations, where she uses soy-based inks and recycled paper, cleans her letterpress with vegetable oil, uses energy efficient light bulbs in her workspace, and of course rides her bike to her office in downtown San Francisco. Look for writer Jess Chamberlain's Sunset's story about Dan and Eszter's easy and economical ideas for eco-friendly living in Sunset's May issue.

Eszter and Dan definitely walk the talk, riding their bikes and scooter everywhere, and doing their part to take care of our environment. And, not only that, their home is stylish and inspiring, full of amazing vintage modern furnishings and flea market finds. You can read more in Sunset, as well as visit the article online at the Home by Sunset blog for a list of some of Dan and Eszter's favorite eco-businesses (in San Francisco and beyond).

Now I'm even more anxious for the new issue to arrive in my mailbox. Saw this on the stands yesterday - no fair that subscribers get theirs *after* it hits the stands!

It's just so very "Design*Sponge"

Still waiting for something genuinely new and edgy- as interior design geared only toward "twenty-something" gals is getting REALLY tired.

There is a wonderful world of design out there.

Quit shopping at Target and DWR.

Thanks for the post - now I have to run out and grab this issue! These two have such a lovely home, and they are as nice as can be. Any space that reflects the homeowners' personalities and is filled with things they really love -- and not just things they saw in a magazine or catalog -- is good design in my book.

Anon - these guys are in their late 30's and don't shop at Target; and I am way older than that! I don't see anything in these photos from either Target or DWR - what are referring to, so I can productively answer your question? Everything in their home is recycled vintage, so I am confused.

Thanks!

Oh, and Anon (why are you guys always anon?) I challenge you to find one single piece or item bought in DWR or Target". Waiting.....

I guess anon. must have gotten his/her blogs mixed up. This comment can impossibly be about Dan & Eszter's home. Which I love, btw. Great vintage pieces, great styling. Wouldn't it be great to see your own home featured in such a lovely magazine? Ah... (*drifts away in daydreams*)
I'm counting down the days 'till my trip to SF (just 5 more) so I'll definitely be putting their shopping tips on my 2 do & see list!

Very stylish home in a very Conscious way.
I assume that anon is referring to buy expensive stuff, well, expensive that not always means better, that I did learn in my twenties.
Sorry for my doggy English.

I love the look of Dan & Eszter's home. Is there any way to find out where they got their owl painting from?

it was a painting that eszter ordered from a SF painter called Berry something. it was a one of a kind commission for their anniversary.
