Beautiful Losers.

I am so excited about this film, Beautiful Losers. I wanna be a beautiful loser, too! This documentary film has been out a little while, and explores that creative mindset driving youth culture and popular art today. Originally a traveling museum exhibition and book, Beautiful Losers, is now an unique documentary, directed by Aaron Rose and co-directed by Joshua Leonard, celebrating the independent and D.I.Y. spirit that unified a loose-knit group of American artists who emerged from the underground worlds of skateboarding, graffiti, punk and hip hop. Artists like Margaret Kilgallen, Barry Mcgee, and Chris Johanson.

You know that feeling you had as a kid, creating art, and not being fearful of its outcome? Just creating for the sake of creating...that's what's fun. I get so frustrated with myself when I am creating and find myself worrying it won't come out as I like, rather than just doing and loving it for what it is, or isn't. It's all learning, and I hope to find my inner kid again with my camera. This film explores artists that don't conform, that create art of all kinds from their heart, and along the way inspire us to do so, too. Yeah, for Beautiful Losers! What do you want to create?

Yay Victoria!!! Thanks for posting this! The dilemma of being an adult, ha. I love how at the beginning of the trailer the guy is walking backwards: symbolic, going back in "development" towards being a child.
Where did you view the film? I looked at the official web site and the closest screening is Las Vegas. Not gonna happen :)

Love, Sylvie

i have seen at least some of your art in how you repurpose things found at flea markets, in how you arrange and rearrange and repaint your home (and i love that) ...

if you create other art, i would love to see that, too. thanks.

I like that message! I'm a bit like you I guess, often more focused on the result of what I'm creating than on the process. I guess both have their advantages: being focused on results can also drive you forward... But anyway, I'm very curious about that documentary.
