When Shopping Makes a Difference.

I read about a new product line at Macy's, of all the somewhat surprising places in Domino's Giving Back regular magazine feature. It's called Macy's Path to Peace project, and features beautiful baskets created in Rwanda. Proceeds from sales are funneled to Rwanda, providing food, housing and health care for women and children of Rwanda. It's a great way to shop and help support a sustainable Rwandan economy. And the weaving is incredibly beautiful and quite affordable! Other great resources for shopping for a cause include: Aid to Artisans, Join Red, and Tom's Shoes.

this is one of my favorite resources for african baskets. They're quite beautiful and they are a FTO.

Thank you for writing about this. I created a company in memory of my 28 year old sister, Liz, who died from breast cancer. Uptown Liz (www.uptownliz.com) promotes products from companies whose proceeds go to charity. You can shop on this one-of-a-kind website by charitable cause or product category, knowing that every time you make a purchase you are giving back. There are many great art, clothing, jewelry, house wares, beauty and eco-friendly products (just to name a few) that benefit charities all over the world.
