Show Me How. Show Me Now.

The crafty duo Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom from The Curiosity Shoppe sent more over a copy of their brand new book, Show Me How. Lauren and Derek have always had a passion for collecting and sharing obscure, eclectic and useful knowledge, and have regular monthly get-togethers with like-minded friends to teach each other how to do fun and cool, and curious things. So when they were approached by the Show Me Now team to help bring this fabulous book to fruition, they jumped right in.

With the Show Me How team, they've put together this incredible book, Show Me How, which shares with you everything from yoga poses, to how to build a loft bed, to making your own sushi or lamps. It's anything, and everything in between, and I found it utterly fascinating and learned a great deal in just a few pages (but there are over 500 Things You Should Know). Take a look at some of these amazing topics, easily illustrated and explained to so you can learn and share, too!

Thanks once again, Lauren and Derek, and the Show Me Now team for your creative passion - it's quite contagious! And, oh hey, want to join the Show Me team? They're always seeking new members! Send them your ideas — be they practical tips, trendy tricks, outlandish stunts, or fascinating traditions from your culture — and show them how it's done.

Hey, I bought this book for my 14- year-old son for Christmas. I thought it was time he learned some skills. The book is great. We all loved it. Maybe he could take it away to University one day.

It's so cool that I'm going to buy it for my 55-year-old hipster- doofus brother for his birthday.

I highly recommend this book to anyone.

This is a must for everyone. I can't believe my husband hasn't found this one, he's always looking for these types of books. I think i might surprise him with it.

I can't recommend this book more highly! It's got something for absolutely everyone. I put it on my coffee table and it never stays closed. Not only that, tons of conversations are constantly triggered from one page or another. Derek and Lauren did a stunning job!

Love the illustrations!

I like the idea, but I have to be honest. I *hate* the illustrations. I am so tired of Illustrator-rendered (or whatever drawing program these are) illustrations. I miss actual, real illustration; drawing and/or painting. Even plain old photography would be better.

I love this book! I bought one for my brother's girlfriend for christmas, and brought it out to show my mother-in-law, who then hinted around 5 times before just saying, "look, I need you to get me that book, too, ok?". I know what you're saying (carlene) about the illustrations, but I actually really love them. to each her own! :)
it's a fun book, and surprisingly useful. I keep finding new stuff that I didn't see on the first few times I flipped through.

what a cool book! I'm always on the look out to learn new stuff, even things I don't particularly need to do right now (and may never need to do, but you never know...)
I'm interested in a comment of yours in this post Victoria - that Lauren and Derek get together with like-minded friends to show each other how to do stuff. What a great idea! HOw do I get friends like that?
I know this isn't a self-help blog ( but it helps this self stay cheery on some tough days in a boring job...) but maybe you have some thoughts to share on this - how to make creative friends. Hang out and chat to people at markets? Would love your thoughts.

I am a fanatic for books like this. It's so nice to have upholstery, sewing, printing, etc. books in the library. Then, whenever inspiration hits and I wonder how to do that project, I can grab a refresher book. I'm such a visual person and a self proclaimed jack of all trades, master of none. I will certainly be acquiring this book to add to my knowledge base.
