It's Tea Time.

I got a little girlie yesterday and finally had tea at Crown & Crumpet, a fairly new English tea room that recently opened in the newly renovated historic Ghirardelli Square here in San Francisco. The very charming Amy and Christopher Dean, formerly of La Place du Soleil (a really cute shop I dearly miss) are the lovely couple behind Crown & Crumpet, so I was not surprised to find it's just brilliant. And yummy - the servings are quite generous and delicious!

I adore high tea, with all those yummy scones and little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, just like my mum used to make for me. And Crown & Crumpet is, as you might imagine, amazingly feminine and cozy, but is spacious and stylish enough to host special events like bridal and baby showers, or perhaps a girlie-get-together for Valentine's Day.

And if high tea is not your thing, you can also indulge in Crown & Crumpet's very own English aperitif bar with a fine selection of sherries, ports and Madeiras with other libations and of course, loads of nibbles. The tearoom also has a sweet, small shop carrying British candies, unique jewelry and gifts, including Crown & Crumpet's signature tea cups, saucers and teapots, along with artwork from Etsy-found photographers, print-makers, and painters. Pop on in...it's simply divine!

Victoria, is that a real fireplace in the background? (I don't remember there being chimneys in the shops at G'delli... )

Wow, I rarely go down to Ghiradeli Square (you know, full of "tourists"), but this will make the trip worth it.
