Not Your Granny's Patchwork.
I was checking out Danielle de Lange's The Style Files on my hunt for some fabulous throw pillows for my new Jasper sofa (which arrives tomorrow, by the way!). I did a search on Danielle's site for pillows and she had a post about a Dutch design company by Marlies Spaan called MeS Textiles. They custom make these totally fun and hip patchwork pillows that I just completely fell for. They use this great mixture of textiles and fabrics, including the Eames Dot pattern, which they combine with really colorful checks and calico prints. It's crazy, and I never could have imagined these, but they really work and look fantastic. Very modern-hippie. Next time I'm off to Amsterdam (and I'm dying to go) this will be one of my first stops. In the meantime, it's wonderfully inspiring design and you can contact them MeS online for orders.
*On a side note, even the photography on the site is cool; very American Apparel-ish.

Aren't those patchwork pillows gorgeous?! I think they would look stunning on your new sofa.
Thanks for mentioning my blog! Let me know when you're going to Amsterdam, I'd be happy to give you some tips about where to go (great little shops, restaurants etc).
Love your blog! It gives me lots of useful information as I will be in SF in April/May (for the first time, I can't wait!!).
Have fun with your new sofa!
Danielle

Charming collection of pillows...
Patchwork always evokes a sense of warmth, comfort, and nostalgia...
I always loved to curl up in my Nonna's homemade patchwork quilt and watch her work magic in the kitchen during the cool winter months. Memories like that are brilliant and magical, and linger on forever...
