Go West, Young Shoppers!
West Elm is having a pretty darn good sale. I may even have to spring for this lovely espresso daybed (um, it's just $350). I love the bolsters and was thinking of covering them in a contrasting vintage fabric. I've been wanting (and searching) for the perfect daybed to put in the nook of my bay window. I had white in mind, of course, but this is an excellent price.
I really like these dining chairs. I think they'd look great around the 200-year-old dark wood farm table my mum is shipping up to me. I've decided to place white, modern chairs around the old table to give it a contrasting, clean look. I think these upholstered white danish modern looking ones might look cool.
This slat bench is a nice knock-off of the infamous George Nelson original. Not the legs so much, but I think it's great looking and would look good in an entry way, stacked with art books, or maybe at the foot of a bed, to rest and display folded throws.
I quite like these sleek looking, smooth finished honey pine candle trays. I could see them doubling as some great serving platters for appetizers and the smaller square trays would make nice cocktail plates for guests.
Lastly, I love these sweet little acacia wood owl place card holders. A set of four is just $12. I'd want to make sure I had at least eight. If you had a dinner party for just four, it'd be kinda weird and too fancy to use place cards, no?

great finds. i love some of their other sale items - and the free shipping (for some) is definitely tempting!
love that day bed. I have always used place cards at dinner parties. i love the formality and mixing people up for good conversation!
Oh wow! I love owls! I can't believe I missed that when browsing west elm's site.
I love the daybed, too. I love the color as well and think it would look great as is in apt. (you always recover later). It could be a nice contrast to the pale furnishings you have. Perhaps toss on some pale pillows and a light blanket (like ad did) if you wanted.
Those owl placecard holders have been out of stock for several years according to West Elm (both their website shows them out of stock and I spoke to someone there as well.) If anyone knows where else to find them it would make my fiance most joyous.
oh no...so sad. i'll be on the lookout for the owls!
