Confessions By The Bay.

I am here to admit it, sfgirlbybay has been stumped for a couple of weeks on the home decor front. And so many of my fellows bloggers and readers have offered up some really great advice, so thanks so much! I know I'm supposed to be helpful here, but honestly, I was feeling like I'd lost my touch. I usually do not have much problem deleting, moving and bringing new pieces into my apartment. But the new barstools, and my mum's farm table kind of threw things off kilter. I LOVED them, but something was not right.

This weekend it finally hit me - and I flopped the rooms around. It might sound crazy, but I quite like it. So, now the dining table is in front of the fireplace, and my living area is tucked inside the area just off the terrace, so it feels as though I'm bringing the outside, in. It's quite light and airy. And now the barstools and the dining chairs I am getting for the farm table will no longer conflict. I just hate it when that happens!

So, you're probably expecting some snaps, but nope, not yet. I'll post them soon. I am waiting to put together a few more missing elements, and then I can share. In the meantime, I worked on a mood board, to help me sort out all the ideas jumbling around and my head. It was so much fun to do, and so helpful, I highly recommend it. And if you'd like to see other mood boards, check out decor8's Inspiration Board Contest, sponsored by Amy Butler. There were some excellent entries and a bounty of ideas.

Victoria. I'm hanging my head over here. I think you've redone your entire place three times in the time it's taken me to finish one room.

You must tell me what that yellow geometric print is. Is it wallpaper? Is it? Is it? It's just the thing I've been looking for. And I'm loving that side table too. This has the makings of something fabulous. Can't wait for the photos.

alicia - it's an illness, darling, no need for shame. i am mentally ill. i just get bored and must keep thing changing. i guess i enjoy it, or i wouldn't do it, right?

the yellow pattern is angela adams stationery - but she has similar rugs and pillows. the side table is the saarinen, and i ordered it last week. i can't wait!!

dining room chairs are next, if i can ever decide, and a new art gallery of lots of etsy artists.

I should have known ... Angela Adams. There's so much to look at on that mood board that I just saw the Saarinen -- love that; my all time favorite. I was looking at the other table. Love them both.

Thanks for the tip about mood boards. My friend is an AD assistant and works with them all the time - hers are all fantastic, but I have been afraid to try myself. Now I might just give it a try!!! One (stupid?) question, however: are yours real or made on the computer? The look so professional, so you probably create them in Photoshop or something?

Thanks for being a great source of inspiration!

yes, it's true grace. what you saw will be totally changed. :)

cecilia, nope - this is just me with my piles of magazine clippings, paint chips, etc. sitting around on a sunday pinning them to a white bulletin board (i painted it white for a more neutral backaground). try it!!

I have been doing the same thing only with the garden for our new beach residence. It was so interesting going through all of the old clips and magazines before the packing for the move, anyway. Putting it all together in a mood board really brings the over all picture together.

Your mood board is fantastic. It was the source of inspiration for a quilt I am going to start working on soon. I'd did a little post about the inspiration on my own blog, and it will publish tomorrow (www.katefranco.com) Thanks for being such a source of inspiration!!
