A Happy Home Is An Adler Home.
I took a trip to Jonathan Adler on Fillmore Street over the weekend, and it truly is a very happy place. They follow a Ten Commandments of a Happy Chic Home, and it shows. The minute I peeked in the door the sales guys said, "hey bring your dog in!" And then they swooned over Cooper and showered him with biscuits. When shopping is like this, even Coop likes it (he really begged and cajoled me to buy him this, but I restrained him for the moment)! The shop is super chic and sophisticated, but in a fun and lighthearted way that doesn't take itself too seriously. I mean, I think one of the salesmen had hot, yellow pants on. That's pretty darn cheery!
So, if you're in need of a little lift, perhaps some dog love, or just missing that gone by the wayside, helpful and good-humored customer service thing, drop into an Adler in your neighborhood. If there's not one nearby, I'm pretty sure even the website will perk you up!

I am SO GLAD there isn't one of his stores up here. I'd be in serious trouble - my bank account is very grateful. What a beautiful store.
I love the manifesto on the JA site - "We believe that when it comes to decorating, the wife is always right.
Unless the husband is gay."
I agree with that, as well as all of the other points! Next time I go in to one of the shops here, I'm definitely bringing my dog.
you are so right, I love that store. I had been in there before and didn't want anything, but this last time, I wanted EVERYTHING. I do have a orange and light blue fetish these days, so that might be it.
Also, when I was there, "sexy mother..." by Prince was playing in the store, the cashier and I rocked out to it together!
His website IS fun! I'll have to check out his NYC store(s?). His Ten Commandments are hilarious, aren't they? And yes, that little present that Cooper was whining for (aside from the biscuits)is really terrific.
My boyfriend and I opened a little boutique/gallery last year, and we decided early on that the Jonathan Adler "positive attitude" ethos was one that we must also adopt for our store. Super friendly, knowledgeable customer service is so lacking these days, we get so many compliments on our "friendliness"! And we always let dogs come in our store as well, and people are just blown away by it.
I think this attitude of Adlers is a huge part of the success of his company (as well as the gorgeous products themselves!)
Love this post Victoria! Gorgeous and dog-centric. I hope you don't mind that I appropriated some of it for my blog today :)
I love Adler's stuff so much - I'm currently coveting a desk that runs around $2000 Cdn... We have one of his birds and a giraffe at home, and they make me happy just to look at them. I went to the NYC boutique on Greene St and must say that I had a similar experience to yours, fun and fabulous!
Big Adler fan...and I love this store! It is a happy place and bet everyone that walks by it can't help but smile!
