Unexpected Guests: Hippy Chic Home.

Lu, aka Hippyxic on flickr, allowed me to post some lovely photos of her home in
Portugal. I can't read her posts, or her blog because they are in Portuguese, but I
can feel all the vibrancy and happiness in her home. I got so much pleasure from doing
this post, and am completely inspired. There are so many gorgeous details! Prepare to
run out and find yourself lots of color and texture. It's intoxicating, seriously.
I feel like I need a cold Portuguese beer and some spicy chips and salsa!

Lu's home in Sintra, Lisbon has an abundance of inspiration and I really
didn't quite know when to stop choosing photos. It's simply one of the most
joyful places I've ever seen. Lu is fearless with bright colors and pattern
makes my pink wall feel pretty wimpy. Just step inside her pretty gate...

You can also see more of Lu's work as an amazing interior designer in this flickr set.

Lu also has some of her handcrafted work available on the UK's Betty Joy.
You can also view more about her and her beautiful style on her blog, Hippyxic.
Thank you so much for allowing me to share your incredible, happy home, Lu.

I, too, enjoy looking at Lu's photos! They are always so colorful, full of life--makes me smile. We need to get a translator so we can read her blog though--I want to hear the words that go along with the pictures. :)

Great piece on her. :)

Sheree

P.S. Your blog is filled with eye candy--I'll definitely be stopping by often!

What utter deliciousness...

See that's the thing...its not just beautiful and interesting color choices but that it actually conjures up words like "delicious". And I wholeheartedly agree! Is it wrong that a boy should love such a candy-colored palette? If Willie Wonka can why can't I?!

REALLY beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

If you type the name of her blog site into google and click on "translate this page" you'll be able to read her blog. The translations aren't perfect, as not everything translates perfectly, but it works pretty well. Go Google!

Thanks c*liz and thanks, of course, Victoria. Her page has been one of my favorites-- even though I have no idea what's going on. The joie de vivre totally translates, though. I'll try the 'translate this page' thing!!

That colour just makes your heart sing!
Hey - I've got one of those green lamps (the world's a small place).
And I love, love, love that round cushion with the black background.
Thanks for showing us around - it's fabulous!

Lu is the inspiration behind and the reason why I have a Portuguese pink birdhouse in my backyard. When she saw the photo of it, in wishy-washy white, she suggested pink and I thought, "Why not?" and painted it in the brightest pink I could find (in my garden set on flickr). Then there's the old shed door that followed suit and went from dull grey to Mediterranean blue...she's certainly introduced colour into MY life and is such an amazing wife, mother and friend.
