Buy One. Light Up The World.

Most of us take light for granted. We have to remind ourselves to turn the lights off. When dusk comes, we walk over and flip a switch and light illuminates our lives. While listening to NPR today I learned that the World Bank estimates that close to two billion people around the world don't have access to light. That means when the sun sets, they must sit in utter darkness. But a gentleman named Mark Bent has now invented the BoGo Light, a solar-powered flashlight to help in his quest to light up Africa and other poor nations around the world.

When you buy a BoGo Light, another one, free of charge is sent to non-profit organizations and the donated lights are distributed to needy individuals and families in the developing world, and the impact of that gift radiates a positive impact on people in need, and our planet.

People living in the developing world rely on kerosene lanterns, candles, and single-use battery flashlights for light at night. Not only are these options expensive, dangerous, and harmful to the environment, they also negatively impact health, education, and security. The BoGo Light provides an opportunity for children to read at night and to extend school hours. This is especially important in developing countries where most children spend all day tending crops, taking care of livestock, or working in cottage industries. And that's just one advantage of lighting up their lives. Buy a BoGo Light, and help light up the world.

Thanks you guys! This is such an easy thing to do to help the world. Spread the word! We'll light up Africa and beyond!

The interview is on NPR link if you want to hear it. One doctor said he had delivered a baby in the Congo, and the first thing it saw was this light. Pretty amazing!

Dear Victoria, I am a frequent reader of your site--and big fan--though I've never left you a comment before. (And I'm often wondering whether or not to buy a "Keep Calm" poster as I renovate my 1965 mountain-fantasy house in Black Mountain, NC. Haven't hung any art yet since thing's aren't finished.) But I wanted to write and tell you how I excited I am to see the BOGO Light on your site. I helped write and edit the website for the BOGO Light, a project I was very happy to work on because I think the BOGO Light is really transforming people's lives. Thank you so much for helping to spread the word!! Yours sincerely, Landon Godfrey
