Style Maven: Orla Kiely.

Designer Orla Kiely began her career studying at Dublin's National College of Art and went on to obtain her master's from the Royal College of Art in London. She's designed two collections for the Tate Museum in conjunction with their summer exhibitions such as Bauhaus (I am lucky enough to own a wallet from the collection!), sixties era and has a new collection available at the Tate next summer.

You can find Orla Kiely shops in London, Hong Kong, Paris and twelve in Japan. I guess she's more than popular there! She is also currently working on a project for MoMa in New York City and she runs her design studio in South London.

I am a huge fan of both her fashion work and her home accessories line. And, I find her fashion pallettes translate into her homewares line, as well inspire whole rooms full of color. Take a look.

Mmmmm, I do love me a bit of Orla Kiely. She does pattern and colour so perfectly. In the part of Dublin where I work, every second woman (at least) has an Orla Kiely handbag!

she's more popular in other countries because they can afford it! i've found great bargains on ebay, though...

I love her stuff, but it is kinda costly, darn the week dollar!!! I love how easily the patterns translate from fashion to home stuff, very hard to do that and still be so cool.
