Say It Ain't So.

Polaroid has announced it's shutting its doors. This just can't be. Polaroids are one of my favorite party games (and take-away party favors!) and have made for many a lively evening. They make great, unexpected, instant art and capture moments like nothing else can! Well, I suppose they believe a digital camera can, but it's just not the same, we all know that. I feel a gocco-like movement coming on - Save The Polaroid! Time to stock up people, it's the end of another era. In the future, I can hear us all asking, "but, is it Polaroid-worthy?".

i agree, if there's enough demand for it someone else will start producing.

I can't handle this sort of hard news before the weekend.

I hope it isn't true and that Fugi will pull through for us. It is becoming so hard to be old school on the camera front.

I saw this news earlier this week. Part of me wants to do a big Polaroid project now and part of me... wants to *hoard* my film!

I just spit out my water when I read "but, is it Polaroid-worthy?" Hee hee. Thanks for a laugh in the midst of sadness.

i'm on board with hoarding polaroid film -- i have 7 packs hogging valuable fridge space right now!

I am crushed. I'm going to rush out and overload on film.

Let's do a movement. Keep alternative photography alive!

Worst case scenario is that polaroid owners will have antiques to display in their homes.

I'm also crushed. Loved them in the 70s (yes I can remember that far back) and I love them and use them today. Nothing like hearing that little motor pushing your picture out and the anticipation of what develops - magic.

Wait-- are you sure they're closing up shop? I think they're closing factories and reorganizing as a company to move forward and catch up on their lapse in technology. But I also did read they are seeking another company to take on the license/production of their instant film sector. Not all is lost!
