Sorry, I'm A Bit Late Today.

I am originally from Los Angeles. I am a film fan. And therefore, I do not miss the Oscars. No matter how corny they can be, full of predictable sound bites, and long speeches, I do not miss the Oscars. So, with that said, I will be late with my posts today. I suppose you could say that I could have caught up on Saturday, written more of my usual Monday posts early. But no, I had to see a double feature, of Atonement and No Country for Old Men on Saturday so I could try and catch as many Oscar worthy performances as possible. And so, I'm late. And Javier Bardem's hairdo was worth every creepy minute. I'll be posting more later this afternoon. Thanks to the Academy.

I'm also originally from L.A., and corny or not, I wouldn't miss the Oscars, either! Somehow it never gets old.

I grew up not far from the Shrine Auditorium, where they used to be held on Monday nights, and I can remember trying to make my way home early (in order to watch the pre-show) east on the 10 freeway and driving amidst all the limos ferrying stars to the awards. A distinctly L.A. experience.

what a difference a hairdo makes huh? i keep reading he was really depressed after having that hairdo for three months.

i loved both movies - Atonement was beautiful, the sets, the clothes and it was a favorite book of mine.

and no country for old men was amazing. i loved the cinematography, the lighting, and the whole story had me jumping around in my seat! creepy, for sure, but i loved the characters.

yay! I loved No Country for Old Men! The details (the poodles and the coffeepotlamp), the colours, the language! And what a difference a hairdo makes indeed!

You can take the girl out of LA, but she still can't miss The Oscars.
I'm so far removed from that life, but it's odd sitting in your living room, in the middle of TN, and finding out someone you used to work with passed away while watching the In Memoriam segment.

Javier Bardem is a great actor, a very straightforward person and comes from a family of artists. Listening to him is a delight; I'm very happy to see his efforts and talent fulfilled. And yes, he looks way better without the hairdo.
