Oh, It's Maker Faire Time!

So, last year I attended my first Maker Faire with my pal Joni, and it was one of the best events I have ever attended. No exaggeration! I don't know why exactly, it was just one of those magical days where everything just felt great, the energy, the people, the art. The Maker Faire is a two-day, event that celebrates the DIY mindset. It's what I would best describe as crafts-meet-burning man-meet-mad science, a strange combo to be sure, but maybe not all that surprising. I see more and more lately the love relationship between science and art and how the too seemingly diverse subjects are drawn to each other. Left brain, meet right brain. Hello!

Anyway, the Maker Faire is a fine example of this merging of the minds, and I highly recommend a visit. Last year there were crafts people like Lotta Jansdotter and The Small Stump, and some seriously wacky science experiments going on. And, one of my personal favorites, Zach the Poems About Anything guy. This weekend it's at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds and coming to Austin, Texas in October. Here's the list of participating artists this year. See ya there!
