Books, Books On The Wall.

I just love these invisible floating bookcases. They turn ordinary books and their pretty spines (which, I already love) and turns them into a kind of wall sculpture that seems to defy gravity. I found a bunch of different versions online which are quite affordable, and just had to share.

The Flybrary from Unica Home.

Invisible Floating Bookcases from Barnes & Noble.

I also quite like the Flying Vee Shelves from DWR;
and the Cadman Spine Bookcase from West Elm.

Very cool as long as you never plan on reading them - what a PITA to get to any but the top book.

Books are the one thing I really own in excess, so I welcome any idea that will allow them to do double-duty as decoration. I even use a giant bookshelf as my bed's headboard! Thanks for the lovely ideas.

Invisible floating bookcases

I love these! I have books stacked all over my place and I really needed bookcases. I am an artist and I really love the look...they look like art!

I know what you mean about the gloom in SF. I use to live there and it can be quite cold.

I bought some the second you posted them to your blog, and thanks to B&N 2-day free shipping, they're already installed. I can't stop looking at them. It's magic, I tell you. Furthermore, it's actually very easy to pull books from the middle without rearranging them all.
