A Visit to The Parker.

My good friends Eszter & Dan recently took a trip to Palm Springs and while there had a visit to the magnificent Parker Hotel. Eszter kindly shared her photos with me, so I in turn, could share with you! I didn't realize until I started looking at them, that the Parker was formerly Gene Autry's Melody Ranch, where my family would spend a week each Easter break! Ah, the memories - Coppertone and lots of diet coke! Palm Springs is hot, if you've never had the pleasure of a visit.

The Parker Palm Springs is situated on thirteen acres of landscaped gardens surrounded by the desert and mountains, and of course, if you haven't recognized it already, is designed by Jonathan Adler, so the decor is signature Adler all the way!

The Parker also boast four pools! Two outdoor heated pools surrounded by beautiful gardens, chaise lounges, and plenty of staff to cater to your every whim, along with a variety of gardens surrounding the property. Each garden provides a different feeling and function. An array of plants and flowers, along with hammocks, Croquet lawns and Pétanque courts are all there for your pleasure. Palm Springs is a city loaded with fabulous sixties architecture and is worth the visit for that, if not just a great tan. I'm ready for a trip to the Parker!

What an interesting looking place. I love the overall of the Parker and location, but sometimes (for me) with JAlter it tries too hard to be too funky or quirky. Many great ideas, but a little over the top.

Amazing looking place (but dumb show). Can you please elaborate on spending time at Gene Autry's as a child? Sounds interesting!

It's on my list, too!

Kerry - it was just this old hotel my parents would 'drag' us to! Imagine that - not wanting to go?? I do remember all the pools and shuffleboard. They always let me bring a friend though, so we would oil up and work on our tans all day long, and flirt with boys, of course!

Sounds like fun to me! Thanks for the elaboration. I thought maybe your parents were friends with them. My stepmother's parents were friends with the Crosby's and I love to hear old stories.

My family used to stay at Palm Springs for Easter Break too! I'm not sure exactly where we stayed, but I'm dying to make a visit now that it's gone trendy. Love the reference to Coppertone and diet coke. For my sis and I, it was more like cherry coke and old Gidget movies... :)
