Sunday { Outside } the City.

I felt like finding myself immersed in nature this Sunday, so I took a drive out to a sleepy seaside town up north, Bolinas. San Franciscans know the locals who live in Bolinas like to keep it a sacred, secret place. To the point of taking down the directional sign every chance they get. There was no sign today, luckily but by now I just know where to turn left. Here's a glimpse of a town that's just a little off the map, and likes it that way.

Looking to Get Lost.

Nowhere Land.

Actually Closed.

Bolinas.

Don't Fence Me In.

Nowhere to Be Found.

What a lovely getaway, and how fortunate to be so near you can just hop in your car and drive there on a day-trip. I adore the last picture in this set, "Love on the Rocks." Beautiful!

WOW. I was in SF for the first time this weekend, and the coast up North is breath-taking. Guess I missed Bolinas!

I live near Muir Beach and used to play soccer in Bolinas as a kid. Such a fun, funky hidden gem.

Fabulous photos! I am in NorCal as well (Sonoma County) and I don't think I've ever been to Bolinas. I'll have to add that to my day trip list!

beautiful! I adore Bolinas but spent more time in Stinson Beach as a kid (thanks to family there), so it seems there's still always some little dinky nook for me to discover in BoBo. So many happy memories in West Marin!

Oh, how I love Bolinas! I've spent some time there, and wrote a short story that was based there about a surfer, love, the ocean at night...hmm, I should pull that out and read it again... thanks for the reminder! :)

good to see and read your entry on bolinas, the mystical lost and found town on the edge of nowhere, and appreciate the detail photos and landscape shots of the spaces and figments of the individual fingerprints left there...
