Colors of London.

One of the most charming things about Notting Hill, the neighborhood we rented our flat in (the pink one just below), were the beautiful row houses. We dawdled down the mews every day on our way to the Tube, fantasizing about which one would be ours...in a perfect world. I picked a pretty little aqua colored one with an olive green door that once belonged to George Orwell. My friend Joni chose the eggplant purple one with the charcoal gray door. We'd be neighbors and meet for tea each day. Yep, in a perfect world!

Our Notting Hill flat.

Our street, Portobello Road.

George Orwell lived here.

An eggplant beauty!

Eye candy!

Just like sherbet.

Posh!

I love the bright pink door in the first image. I wonder if I could talk my husband into that?

When I'm old and frail and can't get out any longer...please make a slideshow of these for me. I will be satisfied for hours.

Beautiful!

I love the colors, so much character in a building facade, if only more people did that here!

Thanks everyone - I think these colorful flats are kind of common to Notting Hill, and maybe not so much the rest of London, but I am not certain.

Sarah - yes, we found this flat here:

It's a grest service and it's always more comfortable (to me, anyway) to stay in a home/flat.

If I was to live on a little street in the city, I would want it to be one like that! Love the colors!

I'm so glad you had a good time in London and the pictures are stunning. Notting Hill is one of my favourite places in the city to go for a walk, and one day I'd love to own one of those coloured houses. My money's on the pale yellow one in the last photo at the moment - well a girl can dream.

Yey, pretty London. Fabulous photos. I love the eggplant and grey too. The prettiness can be found all around London but usually in little hidden mews streets. I love my home.

Hahaha, my friend Maj and I did exactly the same kind of thing (deciding which houses should be ours in a perfect world) when walking around in YOUR city, San Francisco - especially in the Haights! SF is so colourful too! Love it!

Wow! I need to head west more often. I tend to stay east in London and don't take in all the 'magic'. Strangely though, I spent the weekend in the west country and found lots of beautiful colourful houses there. England isn't all grey I guess! So nice to see your post!
