Sunday...Outside the City.
I left the big city this weekend and headed an hour and a half north of San Francisco to the beautiful town of Glen Ellen, in Sonoma County. Beautiful wine country. It's one of the the things I most love about living in San Francisco, that you can escape the city quite quickly should the desire to be near nature call, and be in one of many beautiful places, including wine country, in a very short time. I stayed in an incredible home, complete with its own small vineyard, and basically floated on my back in a pool all weekend long. Here's a look at a road trip to Northern California.

I lived in Napa and worked at a vineyard for six months in 2003--your beautiful photos made me feel very nostalgic! I've been wanting to plan a visit...it's a bit more of a road trip from LA, but well worth it! Thanks, and love your blog!

I was wondering if you ever ended up making to the wine country... I remember we'd chatted about it several weeks back as I was prepping for my 2 weeks in Sonoma.
I love that whole area and the Fruit Basket is my favorite!! I have a hard time not buying WAY more than I could possibly eat myself, ha!

Oh, my! Is it wrong of me to say that I like these even better than Sunday *in* the City? You are making me miss Cali so badly... how I wish I could take off for a weekend drive to the Russian River or Big Sur or Glen Ellen or Sonoma... ah well, that's why I keep coming back to SFGirlByBay. Glen Ellen? That's minutes away from me! Yes, I love living here. I enjoy day trips to Wine Country and can't imagine living anywhere else. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!
