Tagged, I'm it.

One of my favorite bloggers from South Africa, Kirstey of South of the Sahara, has tagged me. Apparently I am to share with you some things about me which you may not yet know. So, here goes...

I was a Brownie, and a Girl Scout. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) was in my Brownie troop.

When I was about 8, my mum, my brother and I were in a Cold Power laundry detergent TV commercial. I drank seven Frescas that day because it was about 105 degrees in our backyard where we were filming and felt pretty ill all day. I also had a crush on one of the cameramen who was at least 35.

I found my dog Cooper on craigslist.com when he was three years old. We rescued each other.

If I were über rich I would have someone put fresh, clean sheets of the highest thread count possible on my bed every day.

I hope to retire to Italy one day, hopefully with a good man. But if not, I will be an eccentric old lady who rides a vintage bike around and goes to the farmer's market every day and sips chilled wine and eats warm olives in the late afternoon while I cook.

Some of my favorite people (fictional and otherwise) of fame and notoriety are Jon Stewart, Julia Child, Bill Murray, Holden Caulfield, Christopher Walken, Sean Penn, Jessica Lange, Bryan Ferry, Dorothy Parker, Truman Capote, Ryan Gosling, Holly Golightly, and Ugly Betty. All people with just the right amount of cynicism, self-deprecation, humor and dignity.

I live in Herb Caen, the famous San Francisco columnist's old apartment. I keep looking for hidden manuscripts.

One of my most favorite books is Ruth L. Ozeki's 'My Year of Meats'.

One of my most favorite documentaries is 'Born Into Brothels'.

My favorite TV show ever, was Deadwood.

I have nice feet.

I've tagged these folks, because I don't know a lot about them yet...and would like to:

I too love Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Sean Penn, Jessica Lange and Holly Golightly. I love your idea of riding a vintage bike in Italy drinking chilled wine and eating warm olives. That's cool you were a Brownie and Girl Scout with Princess Leia. Cool you got to do a commercial. Love Cooper...so gorgeous. I too love high thread count sheets....Thanks for sharing. I love your blog. xo

Fabulous book and movie choices. You're the first I've come across to appreciate "My Year of Meats" like I do.

Best!

Good to know you Victoria! :-)

As I read, I had this image of an old lady, with aviator goggles and hair flying below the helmet, riding a bike ...quite hip I would say! ;-)

Check out my blog for the latest post - the last image is an 'feet inspiration' for nice feet!

So I'm already thinking you're among the MOST generous, encouraging, hip, fun designerie-bloggers out there. Then I read that you live in Herb Caen's old apt.!?!! NO WAY!!! I was raised in SF (during the 60s & 70s) and Mr. Caen's columns and The Chronicle were regular features of my early life. How nice that his old digs are in such good hands. Love it...

So interesting! I hear you on the animal connection. My Simone and I found each other when we each needed it. She is my everything and I appreciate her unconditional love.

Herb Caen's apartment? That is so cool... I used to read his column faithfully...

how can it be that Carrie Fisher was in your Brownie troop? Surely you cannot be aged 50? Colour me astonished, if so.

isn't it funny the things you find out about people over time. yes, herb lived in my very apartment, so often while i'm taking a bath in the big claw foot i think, herb may have composed a column or two here. :)

anon - i knew someone was going to do that math and make me confess my age.

yes, carrie fisher was actually in the girlscout troop at my church, when i was in brownies. so nope, not 50, but gaining on it. i don't like to think about it. it's some kind of conspiracy my parents came up with to lie about my birth date and make me think i'm old. i don't feel old, am young in spirit and am extremely immature, so it all works out well.

Oh! We are in the same age bracket I think. Although I am VERY mature. (not) I also have a dog named Cooper.

Those are by far the best Tag answers I've ever read! But then again, I would expect nothing but the best from you!

That is sooo cool that you live in Herb Caen's old apartment. I think he'd be pleased with what you've done to the place.

Wouldn't I love to run into you at the farmer's market! Hopefully you wouldn't think me too strange to invite back to snack on wine and olives with you. I don't like either wine or olives but I'd pretend to, just so I could pet that sweet Gustafsson basket. Later we could watch "Brothels" and plan to start our own outreach of sorts to kids in brothels everywhere. Blessings!
