There's a New Crown in Town.

Crown & Crumpet is a brand new English tea room that just opened in the newly renovated historic Ghirardelli Square here in San Francisco. Amy and Christopher Dean, formerly of La Place du Soleil (a really cute shop I dearly miss) are the people behind Crown & Crumpet, so I'm certain it's just brilliant. I adore high tea, with all those yummy scones and little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, just like my mum used to make for me. And the space looks amazingly girlie and cute, and is spacious and stylish enough to host events like bridal and baby showers. The Deans liken the spot to a tearoom that might have been opened by spunky British designers Paul Smith, Cath Kidston and Vivienne Westwood.

And if tea is not your thing, you can also indulge in Crown & Crumpet's very own English aperitif bar with a fine selection of sherries, ports and Madeiras with other libations and of course, loads of nibbles. The tearoom will also carry British candies, unique jewelry and gifts, including Crown & Crumpet's signature tea cups, saucers and teapots, along with artwork from Etsy-found photographers, print-makers, and painters. Pip, pip and all that...I'm there.

Absolutely perfect! Any chance they'd consider opening a second location in Boston?

How wonderful! I love Ghiradelli Square and tea rooms -- so this is a splendid combination. I really enjoy how this tea room is not stuffy, but incorporates modern, funky flair. Thanks for sharing a great place Victoria -- I will have to defininetly visit next time I'm in SF :)

I would swoon at the thought of having this CLOSE to me! I remember having high tea in England--it was one of the best parts!

oh darn! i'm so happy they've opened, but I wish it was just a little sooner...i was searching all over the city for a tea house to have my bridal shower at in august, and the big hotels were too fancy-pants for my taste.

oh well, I guess I'll have to make up for it by ordering extra scones when I visit! like i needed an excuse :)

Lovely place!

I can't help it though... it's afternoon tea not high tea. Afternoon tea is the posh one with little sandwiches, high tea is the less formal meat tea.

This place is just completely adorable! I went there last week for a review I'm doing for A Nice Cuppa. They are just too sweet there and the food and tea was AMAZING!! I wish I could try ALL of their teas...
