Sunday in the City.

Live, sorta, from the Alameda Flea Market, where it was quite chilly this week (burrrrrr...I had to keep my woolly beanie on!). Honest to goodness, purveyors of vintage goodness every gosh darn first Sunday of the month. I try and never miss it.

Have you ever been to the San Jose Flea Market? I know it's much more general interest. Do they have antiques to compare with Alameda's?

stewf - i haven't been to the san jose one. i've been told it can be good, but i'm afraid i don't know much about it!

Ok, just returned and I can confirm that it is nothing like Alameda. It's basically a giant open-air market with sundry goods, the kind you might find in Mexico, only less interesting with very few handmade goods and bad food. Too bad. Only scores were a lucha libre mask and some Lotería cards. Avoid it.

thanks for the update stewf...we should plan the next excursion to alameda together or meet up with your clan. we gotta stick together, :)

I'd love to meet you at the Alameda fair. Wish I could be there on Feb 1, but I'll be in Venice, so I guess I can't complain. March, then!

Next time Stewf! Ahhhh, the Biennale!!! I went in 2005 - so wonderful!!! Go to the Peggy Guggenheim museum, too...you can see her Calder headboard!! I'm so jealous! I loved Venice (except the pigeons in Piazza San Marco - ick! people actually pay to have them land on their heads).
