Modernica - Free Shipping!

If you've been holding out for a mid-century modern fiberglass shell chair (and, who hasn't?), now might be the time to splurge! Modernica has free shipping on all orders (not just fiberglass chairs!) in their online shop from March 16th through March 22nd. The special starts Monday, so you have all weekend to go online and build your own chair - pick the color, pick the style, pick the base!

And, as part of Modernica's 20th anniversary celebration this month, the Modernica studio and artist Peter Shire have designed the new Prince Charles Chair. The Prince Charles chair is an elegant and ironic juxtaposition – past and present. It is an innovative combination of two recognizable styles artfully embracing 300 years of furniture design into a single chair. This, along with the chair’s Queen Anne-like legs, which look like broken violin cut outs, prove opposites attract. Check out Modernica for more modern love!

These are beautiful. I, however, am the lucky recipient of 4 of them that my sister found on a curb. Any ideas on how to refinish them?

Oooh, nice score. You know, I don't know about how to go about that. I wonder though, if an auto body, or a boat repair shop could provide tips - since some are made of fiberglass.

i cleaned up a super grungy one fairly successfully with a mr. clean magic eraser. i agree with vitoria that a boat repair shop is a good resource.

Not sure that the last blue one is a good choice ... This is not usual, but this time I prefer the classic ones !

how funny, I just bought a miniature one at a yard sale today. I can't afford the real thing (unless I get a good curbside deal) but at least I'll have my mini.

Jenny Wren: First, try a Magic Eraser. Second, try Barkeepers Friend.

If neither method manages to clean them up to your satisfaction, try this:

Oh I think I really like the juxtaposition in the Prince Charles chair. I wanna see it in that crazy green grass color.
