Friends & Neighbors: My Downtown.

I received an email from a new blogger, Erin Boyle of Reading My Tea Leaves about an idea she had for a series called My Downtown. The idea being that beauty can be found in little details, even in a gritty downtown neighborhood! In a broader sense, Erin started the project as a kind of counter point to the idea that cities are undesirable or ugly or dangerous. I love her post of painted wall advertisements! Even downtown can be beautiful. For more from Erin, check out Reading My Tea Leaves. She's invited me to share downtown San Francisco, so I'll see you there soon!

What a great idea! I love old downtowns--the signs, brick, peeling paint, architectural details. I can't wait to see more.

A terrific idea, because truly, beauty is everywhere, we just need to see it.

I was just in SF this weekend and happened to snap a couple of shots of old ads b/c they caught my eye. Funny, what are the odds! I just posted a 7up one over by Golden Gate Theatre.
