Colts? Bears? Or Alameda!?

Sorry, but I'm just not a big fan of football. I think it's the ubër tight uniforms, grunts and all that slapping each other on the bum. And it hurts me just to see these guys slamming each other onto cold, rock-hard AstroTurf. Seems just too weird to me and way too macho. Give me a civilized game of tennis or a Tour de France, any day. But that's just me. So, if you happen to be of my ilk, and in the bay area here's a reminder. It's the 1st Sunday of the month, so that means the Alameda Flea Market is on this Sunday! Skip the Superbowl and the three-layer bean dip (who was the one that put that combination together, anyhow?) and hit the flea market. I'm hoping every one's home on their couches and Lazyboys with a six-pack in their laps, so there's lots of good bargains left to be had by the rest of 'us'. Go team!

Count me in....now I just have to get time off work and an air ticket to America. I agree about the Tour de France, something about bikes and lycra :)

"ubër tight uniforms, grunts and all that slapping each other on the bum"... That sounds my life when I was a single girl! he he

Seriously, football lulls me asleep too. There is a bit of nostalgia to it, I fondly recall my father sitting in the 'den' watching the games on Sunday... His eyes embedded on the freestanding wood surround circa 1975 television we had. I couldn't wait for it to end so I could see what was on HBO (maybe I could watch Ice Castles for the thousandth time?).

But, outside of that, I grew up far removed from football. I've hosted superbowl parties just so I could play the happy hostess, but spent the entire game in the kitchen. Thankfully, my husband has no interest in sports at all. We'll watch the Olympics (I love the male swimmers but that's only because they're downright HOT), tennis (we both play so it's something we relate to), and yeah, the Tour de France just because it makes for a nice backdrop as I cook or work on some sewing project.

So, LONG story short, I'm with you. In fact, I really wish I was with you because here in New England, we're about 4 months away from seeing a flea market open. WAHHHH.

I'll shop for you Holly & Jo. What do you girls need? :)

That would be a fun thing to do, actually - when your weather warms up. We could have a $5 limit and do a flea market swap with each other.

oh, oh. i didn't make it there! but i have a good reason. i found these great brushed aluminum barstools, two for $50 on craigslist and i had to pick them up at 10am. normally they're $100 each so it was a pretty good score. see, a pretty good reason.
