Thank my lucky stars!
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to Tara, a long-time sfgirlbybay reader. She emailed me with a link to a craigslist posting she noticed this afternoon. I replied to the post...I waited, thinking he'll never call, he was probably inundated with calls! But he did call, less than a half hour later! So I jumped in the car and headed out to the foggy inner sunset to pick up my four 1960's star-based Burke Tulip chairs and tulip-based dining table - all for $100! I loaded them up Sanford & Son style in the convertible bug, and proudly drove home, smiling at all who met my eye, giving them the "oh yes, people, this was a score!!!" look. Sorry...don't mean to be boastful, but...wooohooo! I just feel really lucky today. The chairs will go around the farm house table, and the tulip-based table - I may use it for a funky desk/work table.
Thank you, thank you Tara. I have written to her, asking how I can possibly pay it forward. I really love moments like this. This is what being a design junkie and have such a great community of fellow junkies is all about. Thanks to everyone who's been on the lookout for me.

Congratulations on a fab score! I can just picture it all.
lucky you!
Wow. Just wow.
That was one extremely lucky find.
Congrats.
Congratulations!! The hunt is always worth it in the end. These are going to be freaking amazing in that room. So happy!
What a score! I cannot wait to see photos of it all put together in the dining room. I think these chairs will look stunning with your Mom's table.
Ah, the Craiglist transaction seen around the world. Does this guy have any idea how famous his stuff is now?
wow what a great score! and for that price? i wonder if he could read your "what a score" face when you exchanged money for those gems! now, i wish australia were 5 times as big (and had more rain but anyhoo) and all this furniture exchanging that US has!
I can't wait to see what those chairs look like with your harvest table. SCORE!!!
I just hate you!
Oh well... guess I'm just jealous.
Envy! Jealousy!
That was really nice of her, must be all your good karma...
I was reading decor8's post about your chairs and I totally agree; I have wanted them since I saw them on your blog last week. I was so excited to visit your blog and discover your new find. What are you planning to do with your old chairs? What condition are they in? Lucky for me I do live in San Francisco, so if you are planning to sell them please let me know.
Wow...that is a ridiculously fabulous score. I'm DYING to see photos of it with the farm table. Might the bentwood chairs be the relaunch of Petite Flea?
so happy for you~ i have this system with a friend of mine. I am looking for a Pink formica kitchen table. Sweet soul she is always on the look out for me.
congrats~
I am very jealous, I've been having Chicago craigslist problems trying to find a new dresser. Your transaction seems just too easy!! Can't wait to see what you end up doing with them.
thanks everyone - but it's really thanks to tara for sending me the link! and yay! to craigslist.
some transactions are painful, or full of flakes, but some and I'd say most are great! so keep looking.
i am working on getting petite flea back up and running, and i may just be selling the bent wood white chairs. i'll do a post when i get it all together! happy hunting!!
I hope we get to see pictures soon!
I love the world of Bloggers, because of stuff like this!
Way to go Tara! You rock and I hope good karma comes back to you for this.
I can't wait to see pictures as well of the chairs with the table. :)
i truly believe that the moment you release what you want out into the universe, verbalize it, it will somehow find it's way to you. and if you blog about something you want before a ton of people, hey there's an even better chance!!! ;)
i don't even know tara and i love her. what a GREAT reader!
p.s. - did you see the feature in this month's MS Living mag about bentwood chairs? It's superb. They are shown in this minty green that is very pretty. Other colors too. The article is a great read if you have time to pick up the issue.
thanks holly - it sure seems so in this case. i haven't seen the MS, but i'm thinking of painting the bent woods a bright color and keeping them for extra seating for dinner parties. i'll check it out!
i'll post some pics soon!
whoa! oh my goodness, what a brilliant score. congratulations! and so nice that someone shared the lead on it with you. i love things like that.
Wow. All I can say is wow. I am so very jealous, but lucky you! I woulda been grinning too.
I know you just changed your place, but...how about using the farm table as a desk instead? And using the tulip table as your dining room table. It's just so freaking cute - and the farm table will give you a lot of room to create.
In any event, I am sure whatever you do will be sweet.
P.S. - Serena, pink formica table? Sounds absolutely fabulous! Please ask your friend to look for two!
