Are You Curious?

I posted a few weeks back reminding y'all about the grand opening of the Curiosity Shoppe in the Mission District, but I had been yet to actually visit. Since then, it seems I am running into co-owner Lauren all about town. I visited the shop a couple of weekends ago, and then ran into Lauren and her lovely husband/biz partner Derek at Doe again this past weekend (in fact, the two scored Lorena's cool Wonder painting, of which I am so jealous!). Recent transplants from NYC, it's so nice to have such a lovely and talented duo amongst us here in San Francisco.

Derek and Lauren are totally immersed in the art and craft scene, here already. Not only have they just opened the Curiosity Shoppe, they are also Grace's new Design*Sponge DIY editors; and run the fabulous DIY site, Smarts & Crafts. Be sure and check out their online Curiosity Shoppe Craft Room, as well, for some great resources, how-to's and crafty ideas.

The Curiosity Shoppe decor reflects Lauren & Derek's excellent taste and design know-how, with lots of cool built-in cabinets and shelving displaying some amazing featured artists' and crafters' beautiful handy work.

They've filled this old library-like cabinet's drawers with loads of 'mystery items' - pull out one drawer and find shiny red paint brushes; another holds the ever-faithful Pink Pearl eraser. You never know what fun surprise you'll discover - I really love that.

The Curiosity Shoppe is very fond of disguises in the form of mustaches!

It was such a happy coincidence that I was staying around the block from the Curiosity Shoppe on a recent trip to SF. What a cool shop, and such lovely people!

This place looks lovely Victoria, you are so fortunate to live in a city surrounded by so many creative types and lovely stores and scenery! It's exciting when you blog about these stores because I have no clue how else I'd see them otherwise, I'm way over here on the east coast and hardly ever get out to CA (last time in SF was '01).

I hope you someday join these ladies and open a gallery/shop of your own, I don't know if this is a plan of yours or not, but you have the ideal location and a great eye to do it. Out of all these beautiful stores you showcase, I still don't see any that capture your spirit totally. SF needs a store called "Victoria By The Bay."
