Vintage Finds For A Modern World: Jars.

Vintage Jars are an interesting and funky way to contain even the most mundane of items, say, your basic q-tips for instance! Boring old q-tips take on a fresh new life when displayed in a vintage jar with an interesting shape, or an etched logo. This jar above, where I keep my cotton make-up pads, has both a San Francisco logo in English and in Chinese - I love it and I found it for just a couple of dollars at the flea market. You can find loads of cool jars on eBay as well.

Displaying your daily necessities out in the open in fun glass jars, also leaves more space in those valuable cabinets and drawers, for hiding away the boring, ugly stuff, like toothpaste. I really don't get why they can't make an attractive toothpaste container. I mean we've gotta look at the thing a couple of times a day, why not make it attractive looking?

I keep my make-up brushes, tweezers, scissors and eyelash curler in vintage jars inside the medicine cabinet, too. You never know who's taking a peek in there, and I prefer it look pretty!

Looks so great! The shelf with the clock and coral...uh, to die! Inspiring, yet again. (And btw, on another note, Victoria...my Mom was perusing through my recent Domino, saw the spread about the room contest, looked at the 9 or so pics of the various rooms, and exclaimed "Now, there's the room I'd pick! Fresh and light, but sophisticated and warm!" "Let me see," I said. It was your living room, Victoria! You stylish gal you!)

Funny you should mention jars. I took a picture of a "jar of doll arms" when I was in a great vintage shop in Austin over the weekend. Here's the link to the picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anne_ditty/2002394583/in/set-72157603140118306/

(but you should check out the link to my blog too...there are some fabulous stores in Austin that I know you'd LOVE!!!)

you have perfect timing! I have some empty jars in a cupboard and some bathroom supplies needing to be stowed neatly away. I'll put those all together and will have a chic bathroom!

I love that first photo, by the way!

I love your jar photos! I like to see things out rather than hiding away in drawers, so jars are a great compromise. Orderly but still visible!

I love your bathroom!

I also use my Pyrex refrigerator dishes in the bathroom cabinet.

So unique and vintage, love it! I really like the miss match look. I buy yogart at Trader Joe's in these little round glass jars, just to reuse the jars. I think the yogart is called Spega?! I use the petite jars for my pens at my desk and q-tips in the bathroom!

I love using my old Fiestaware juice beakers to store stuff in the bathroom. It's so nice to open up the bathroom cabinet and see the cheerful colors.

I love your jar idea, too. I have some old ones in my garage. Must go foraging for them!

you know those kind of new-fangled stand-up toothpaste squeeze containers? just crest and the like, but with the flip top? if you get the white "flavor" the labels peel off very easily and it's just a plain white tube thing... not beautiful, but not terrible either :)

This is by far the coolest toothpaste/toothbrush holder that I've ever come across:
