Sara Paloma Pottery.

You'd never know it by looking at her work, but Sara Paloma was once forced to take her first pottery class, as a requirement for a teaching degree. Falling instantly in love with the medium, she began setting up her own basement studio and after years of sharpening her craft in the off hours of jobs in animation and museums, Sara is now able to pursue pottery full time. Sara creates these beautiful pieces from her live/work studio in Emeryville, California where she lives with her husband Tom Story, an editorial photographer (you have been admiring the photos he shot of my apartment for Sunset), and their baby Clara.

Influenced by the shapes and silhouettes of the urban landscape around her, Sara’s line of wheelthrown stoneware bottles are carried in design stores and galleries across the country, but she has an etsy shop as well. I am in love with her Bone Votive's (top photo) and think these Vertebra Vase (below) are just fantastic, and perfectly named.

I think I am missing the gene that understands the fascination and love of white pottery clusters. I see it all the time and I just don't get it.
