Sweet! Flatstock 16.

It's that time of year when, like, every indie band and in the country and beyond flocks to Austin, Texas for South by Southwest, along with their adoring music fans. I've never been, but it's on my list (man, that list is getting long!). But SXSW is not just for music lovers, oh no. Every year, gazillions of poster lovers show up too, for the Flatstock Poster Show, featuring the work of the most popular concert poster artists working today. This year, March 13 - 15, Flatstock 16 will display the works of more than 100 rock poster artists from across the globe. Posters representing decades of styles, colors and techniques will be on display and for sale. Most of the artists will be bringing new pieces, as well as some older, hard to find pieces of bygone rock concerts.

You'll no doubt already recognize some of the talented pool of poster artists in attendance: Jason Munn of The Small Stakes; the folks at Hero Design Studio, Lil Tuffy and Dan Stiles, just to name a few. Take a look at some of the abundance of gorgeous poster art on display and for sale. If you can't make it to Flatstock 16, be sure and check out the websites to order directly from the artists. And be forewarned - they go fast!

Flatstock 16 is sponsored by Rhino Records, and co-sponsored by the American Poster Institute and by SXSW.

Loving the props to "silk-screeners", Victoria! As one myself, I suppose I am a bit biased but it's nice to see the appreciation for this type of printwork. :)

This is a sign of age: I think I'd rather see the posters than the music. I can then enjoy the (for then) revolutionary graphics while listening to Captain Beefheart.

I just bought a poster for my husband from Hero last week (they're based here in Buffalo). They're super nice and their work is just fabulous...as evidenced by the great selections you've shown.
