Fashion Friday: M.A.C. World.

I dropped into the always stylish M.A.C. (Modern Appealing Clothing) last weekend with my friend Leigh (yes, she takes me everywhere!) to visit her friends Chris and Ben Ospital, siblings who own and run the fabulous clothing shop. M.A.C. carries the most unique international designers around, including Tsumori Chisato (check out the Aquatic collection), Walter Van Beirendonck (the Belgian Sex Clown collection), Dries Van Noten (Belgian romantic) and Martin Margiela (Belgian Avant-gardist).

I love visiting M.A.C. not only for the amazing inspiration that comes from looking at these works of clothing art, but for the fabulous vintage portrait collection that decorates the shop (Rico would fit right in here, and in fact, I am donating Earl to the shop). The decor is as simply just as amazing as the clothing, and I never leave M.A.C. without some kind of new idea about dressing, or decorating! It's the perfect place for that special ensemble, and I highly recommend you go say hi.

i heart M. A. C. i started going here when i was in high school, back in the early eighties. i couldn't really afford more than browsing, but what i did buy, i still actually own. even then, chris and her mother, jeri, were kind and welcoming. i am visiting san francisco next week for the first time in a decade, i'm glad to find M. A. C. is still around; even though now i am sadly "too fat for fashion", i'll definitely visit for inspiration.

Oh, Ben and Chris are the best! I love how supportive they are of the local fashion scene. SF fashion would be lost without them.

This looks like such a cool store. I am really intrigued by all the paintings/portraits. Are they props or are they for sale? Are they vintage or are they contemporary? - it's really hard to tell - and I guess that's what makes this store so je ne sais quoi.

It's a wonderful shop and Chris & Ben are lovely people.

Cartolina - yes, they are vintage portraits, but just for display.
