Rendez-vous à Paris.

While I was laid up this past week, I went through what seems like hundreds of my old design magazines, tearing from their pages for my inspiration journals. A few pages I found myself pulling were these images of vintage posters, which gave off a very French, wide open, Parisian loft feel. So, I thought I'd share this look with you, along with some sources for finding great poster art with this vibrant, cosmopolitan look.

One great source is always Condé Nast Publications' art archives. You can find great old Vanity Fair and Vogue magazine covers, lots of them illustrated by some of the most talented and famous artists of our time. Other great resources are Hammerpress, The Small Stakes, The Poster List, ISO50, BlueFlip Art, and Thumbtack Press, all inexpensive resources for affordable poster art. Some of these may be more contemporary or retro 70's in feeling, but still offer a great graphic look for your walls, and look great hung above a bookcase with some of your favorite objects d'art, or in a kitchen nook, or a hallway -- any place tucked away, or feeling blah and of need a bit of brightening up. And all of these resources provide a wide range of poster art, and all affordable if you're on a budget.

Mounted prints from ISO50.

Great poster idea. I feel I can change them out with the seasons or mood. Great resource!

I love the fact that we both seem to be avid readers of the same magazines - I'm talking about the expensive, covetable French glossies: Cote Sud, Marie Claire Maison, Frech Elle Decoration, etc.

The links are fantastic!

Vintage book covers also look great blown up and framed. I saw a Catcher in the Rye cover that would look sweet next to my bookshelf.

I recently fell in love with Mid-Century Modern Polish Circus posters called "Cyrk" posters. Here is a post I wrote about them last week. Truly awesome work!
