Vintage Finds for a Modern World: Tin Types.

More French goodness from the pages of Marie Claire Maison. I forgot how much I loved old vintage tins until I saw this pretty picture and ripped it out and added it to the now seriously high pile of inspiring pages torn from my magazine stash (the magazine pile is now diminishing, though, whew!). I found these pretty tins among the vintage collections for sale on etsy. I hope you see something you might like.

Fab! many years ago, my dad used to keep little bits and pieces in one of those OXO tins.

I love old tins, V! What is it about them? I don't know? But they instill that little bit of sweet nostalgia...and the graphics are pretty fantastic too :) Those Watkin's tins? Hotness!

interesting.
what do you think of this: read an article by Maggie Alderson, about a vintage dress she just had to buy, even tho' she felt it didn't suit her. BUt it was too beautiful not to have. She commented that 'vintage' is going to run out "and soon." What's do you think we're going to do when this happens? I feel like our culture is eating itself a bit.
Bonsoir

Uncle Beefy - i think it's the great graphic design element to them. packaing is rarely designed this well anymore, and these are just so fun to look at.

jenny - well i've bought beautiful things that don't fit, as well, so i can relate to that. but i don't know if vintage will 'run out' - i tends to just get recycled. and as we age, other things 'become vintage'...and on it goes. 70's vintage was not popular until a few years ago - it's all cyclical, right? so don't fret too much! :)
