Friday Food For Thought.
I thought I'd do something new for Friday and talk about food. Yum, food. All true San Franciscans are major food lovers. They can be dining at the best restaurant ever, eating a fantastic meal and still be talking about where they're gonna be getting the next meal! This week I ate at Spork in the San Francisco Mission district, with friends Grace from design*sponge, Kate, a local designer, and Lauren & Derek from The Curiosity Shoppe (thanks guys again, what a fun night!). And, it was divine! Spork is located in an old KFC which has been completely redesigned with big comfy booths, and wall graphics made from pieces of an enormous outdoor billboard.
Spork is low key and funky, and the food is amazing, including KFC's Original Recipe Pull-Apart Rolls, but this time they're drizzled with sea salt...but still come with that heavenly whipped honey butter. The roasted Cauliflower Power and Hawaiian Sashimi appetizers are amazing. I had the Seared Dayboat Scallops, and the Alaskan Halibut looked pretty darn good, too. So, if you live here already, or are coming for a San Francisco visit soon, I'd definitely add Spork to the repertoire. Oh, and don't forget one of their delicious desserts - which they will serve to you with the other KFC original - the Spork (spoon-slash-fork!).

Repurposing KFC's must be a trend, we have one here in Minneapolis too:
Can't wait to hit Spork next time I am in town!
Hi! I've read your blog a few times and I'm living in Berkeley and working in the city for the summer. I'm always on the hunt for good places to eat in the city! I can't wait to try a few of these places and even happier to have places to take my friends visiting from LA so it actually looks like I know the cool places to be!! Your blog is delightful to read and makes me so excited to be in the bay area.
