Lost, and Then Found.

As promised, here's a little peek at some of the flea market treasures I found this weekend at the Alameda Flea Market. I didn't spend a lot - just a little over $100, but I love what I brought home and was able to give new life to. Flea marketing is just like recycling, but with furniture, clothes and accessories (and maybe a bit more fun than your traditional, average recycling!).

Pretty striped gray pillow, made from vintage French mattress ticking,
from Euro-Linens. You can find many more of Euro-Linens' beautiful
pillows, fabric and products in their eBay store ($50).

Funky cut glass bowl ($7). Not sure what I will do with it - one thought was
planting succulents in it. Or perhaps it will become a candle dish.

Flower-shaped, wrought-iron based wicker chair ($30).

Vintage souvenir Eiffel Tower ($12). Looks quite happy next to Mr. Pig on my desk.

Vintage red Keds ($10). Don't worry, I washed them!

OMG! That wicker chair is FAH BU LOUS!

(omg again: side note! I just saw the painting I've been re-looking-for, the 49 Scenic Drive on the side of your screen in the Three Fish Studios ad! That is needed for my gallery wall!!)

I like Mr. Pig and I like the 'white pearl' eraser that you have there. Does it have any characteristics differing besides colour to the Pink Pearl?

The wicker chair is AMAZING. Very Auntie Mame. I am a huge fan of the Fairfax Flea Market in LA and trawl thru there, almost every Sunday. This week, just lucked out with clothes.

Hi Victoria,

I went to the Alameda for the first time on Sunday. I loved those flower chairs and tried to convince my husband we needed one for our garden but he vetoed it. Too funny! At one point when we were walking around, I explained your style and apartment to him. Funny if you were there then!

I am having a furniture orgasm over that chair!

Shazam!

Sigh. I just love a good flea market. I almost died when I went to the flea market at the Rose Bowl (the biggest on the West Coast). It was simply divine. In fact, when I fly down, there were a group of ladies who were specifically flying down to buy vintage buttons. These girls were prepared: they all brought empty suitcases for their treasures.

Depending on how deep that cut glass dish is, you could float blossoms in it.

I love the Euro Linen people at the Alemeda flea market. I bought one of their rag book pillows with a Christmas theme, and two giant vintage shams for my room. LOVE visiting them every time I go.
