GUEST BLOGGER: Libby from pinkshirtsandcarwrecks

happy tuesday everyone! i was going through links and photos i've been compiling and found that a similar theme started to emerge: books and alphabets (and one book about the alphabet). so i thought i'd share them here with you.

very nifty motion branding by julien vallee for new york times magazine. click here and scroll down to watch the veryshort video (you'll need quicktime).

i love this display by whimsylove of her work, appropriately named "writing on the wall."

sliced books by nicholas jones reveal layers beneath the front cover.

"lovingly vandalized" books by robert the.

beautiful typography by filip tyden. there's also a great (short) animation here of this alphabet (you'll also need quicktime to watch).

cut books by scottish artist georgia russell are just breathtaking. i especially love that some are displayed in bell jars.

and finally, the innovative and super fun abc3d book by marion bataille just became available for purchase this month. a truly delightful book that's also a fantastic work of art.

see you next time!

That abc3d book was quite cool. The other books though, seemed kind of sad and mutilated despite the artful intention :(

wow, this was a feast for my eyes. And I want that book - how fun would it to teach my son the alphabet with that?

I am torn. (No pun intended.) While I love the artful and amazing pieces each book creates, I morn the loss of the literature. I feel the same way about collages. I may be alone in this.
