Time Out With Erin: Create Your Own Library.

Start a library. Surely you have enough books laying around between couch cushions, stacked by your fireplace, stuffed in random closets and cabinets. Why not make sense of your collection and do a bit of literary organization?

There are a number of well-designed book plates, library cards and organizational templates free for your library-creating pleasure. Now--- get inspired, get started and enjoy! Here are a few of my favorite free library templates!:

Book labels [via How About Orange].
Library card and pocket [via Creature Comforts].
DIY Library kit [via Craft Log].

And of course, a complete library kit available from Knock Knock [$16]. Happy booking!

*And, in case you're unfamiliar, Time Out is another installment of a new Wednesday column brought to you by Erin Loechner, Editor of Design for Mankind...dedicated to tearing you away from behind the computer monitor and on to enjoying the simple things in life. Enjoy! As always, thanks so much Erin!

I certainly have enough books to start a library, I just need the shelves for storage... or upcycled crates or what have you. A good idea I may begin as a summer project! Thanks for passing it along!

I LOVE this library kit from knock knock. It is just what I need. I read so many books that I insist other people must read too, but then I totaly lose track of where all my favourites are and then I cant pass them on to the next person. Also, my favourite thing of all when I was about 10 was my date stamp. i just thought it was the bees knees!

Since I actually work at a library, I think I'd get very sick of organizing my books no matter how cute the bookplates and library kit are. But it's a great idea for anyone that DOESN'T work at a library.

Cute. You can also catalog your "library" online for free at www.librarything.com.
