Ode to My Deco: Not So Mellow Yellow.

Okay, I'm not feeling very mellow anymore. The day has finally come...Domino is no longer with us. I am so sad to report, if you hadn't noticed already, that the Domino site has come down, along with the Domino My Deco Files. Thankfully, I'd downloaded one last batch for my final Ode to Domino's My Deco Files. Number sixteen, and sadly, the last in the series. I was feeling Spring fever and went in search of some yummy buttery, and bright yellows. Yellow is a cheerful color, great in small splashes and sometimes in one dramatic burst! So, with a final ray of sunshine, say goodbye to the Domino My Deco Files.

I've been super busy in Ad Land today, so pardon the lack of fresh posts. In the meantime, while I catch my breath, here's a look at some of my flickr favs. I guess I'm wishing I was feelin' all mellow yellow, instead of in 10 cups of coffee mode. Sunday in the City.

In my next life I want to come back as a weather woman because apparently you get to say there's a chance of anything and everything and get away with it. Those guys said it was supposed to rain in San Francisco on Sunday. Does this look like rain to you? Nope. Gloriously sunny...not that I'm complaining, but I had my head wrapped around the idea of being really, really lazy and when it's this nice out, well that's just wrong. So camera in hand, off I went for a nice walk around the city. Here's some of the pretty stuff I saw.

They call me Mellow Yellow.

Yellow has been popping everywhere lately, and not just daffodils. Here's some variations of yellow I've seen today. A tall drink of water, one of those sad Keane girls, a simple Eames Chair, some mid-century burbs and a Sand Dollar Pillow, some Wearstler and a Wary Meyers Mantel, a sweet Camilla Engman, this new look at vintage trays, that cool Anthropologie upholstered Cleo chair, some fun funky paint, a new spot for sunflowers and a sunny buffet, whew.

I'm Smitten.

I love the photography and the audio on I'm Smitten almost as much as Ashley Alexander's designs. When I go there, the mellow, alternative tune of the Rachel's sort of lures me into I'm Smitten's animal wonderland. It's kind of dream like, as are her prints.

I'm Smitten reminds us that as children we believed in animals - they could talk and wear regular clothes and sometimes go to school. My personal favorite was Mr. Peabody, with Underdog following in a close second (however, technically, Underdog is really a super hero). Ashley decided to bring that imaginative magic back into the adult world and take her artwork off her walls and offer it to ours. The idea being "so that everyone could have something pretty and a little bit strange to add to their day." I like this philosophy, but then I can be fond of the strange, odd, and out of the ordinary.
