Presto-Change - Part Deux

As was discussed with some of you on Apartment Therapy San Francisco, even though I scored these great chairs at a real bargain on craigslist, I was presented with the dilemma of a bit of a chair-overdose. The living room was just too crowded with chairs and not quite working. So with some helpful suggestions from fellow AT commenters and tossing and turning with some late night strategies, I came up with a new arrangement that I'm happy with. Take a look - and comment away. I'm also contemplating paint on the walls above the fireplace, and behind the chairs - the color is still a quandary. I'm considering a charcoal blue/gray or a dark gray/green with a lighter contrasting green on the opposite gallery and dining room walls...we'll soon see. I've added a few paint chips I'm thinking about. As the room turns...

Yeah! I was hoping you would post photos soon of the new look. I love it! Very nice arrangement. Very warm and inviting.

As usual, you have such great style. I love the idea of color on those walls.

hi victoria. it looks exactly as i imagined it. no better! did you receive my email. anyway the paint choices look great. if you're brave you'll choose the first pair. i'm a subtle color kind of person but i just painted my pink tiled bathroom a rich 'hot chocolate' brown and wow it's great. oh did you put anything on the other side of the sofa. i like it open to the window and i imagine that's what you did. obi

The new arrangement looks wonderful! And so cozy, especially with a fire going.

i too really like the idea of that dark, calm green, but everytime i've tried it the room turns institutional.

i think you should paint one wall RL galvanized (it was featured in an AT colortherapy post a while back). i painted one of the walls in my bedroom the color and it is so beautiful i can't even find words. it's incredibly dark but it's not goth or depressing; basically, it's perfect and would look lovely with all your white furniture.

Thanks guys - glad you like it.

Obi - I LOVE pink & brown together!

Eric - do you have a picture of the RL Galvanized - I'd love to see it. It sounds interesting! I'll search it on AT, but if you have one you can email me at:

Your capacity for re-invention and refreshment appear to be bottomless! Looks great, and I'm sure you are enjoying the new engergizing layout and furnishings. Well done!

P.S. I wish I could live in a place like yours, but the resident toddler won't allow it. I don't even want to think about what she would do to all the lovely white furnishings -- especially the rug -- not to mention that shiny glass table. Ah, she is cute, but she is a menace, a clutter machine and a design challenge in one small package.
