A Space to Create.

I probably have enough art & craft supplies to fill my own shop. However, they've been tucked away, high in cupboards, stashed here and there, not at all easily accessible, so they basically go unused for the most part. After visiting Leigh's studio last week, I got inspired enough to create my own wee, little studio space. So I sold the futon that rarely slept guests on craigslist to a lovely young gentleman in need of a bed, to make room for a creative space of my own.

I moved in the Burke Tulip Table and my newly upholstered Ikea Skruvsta desk chair. I added an inexpensive Ikea throw rug and the Ikea Lack bookcase. Turning the Ikea Lack on it's side, horizontally, I drilled some holes on the bottom and added some fun wheels for mobility. It's actually quite easy with the right tools! So, with some newly framed etsy art from Betsy Walton and Groovy Inclinations, and all my art supplies stored away in vintage jars and tin baskets, I finally feel like I have a space that just beckons me to sit down and create, with everything I need right at my fingertips. It feels good to take that first step. Now, to put these fun tools to use...

what a pretty area! I love all that you've done. You make it seem so easy but if I tried to simply add wheels to a cabinet, I'd be in tears. (I'm not so handy around the house...but I do love pretty things - like white and pink.)

That's such a gorgeous spot! I love the windows and the fabric you put on that chair. That tulip table looks so cute there, but I predict you will be so prolific you will need to move the larger farm table into your creative area.

Really darling space.

OK. You've inspired me too. I have a small room upstair going to waste and tons of art clutter downstairs so I'm going to Create a Space. If mine is even 1/5 as cute as yours I'll be thrilled.

Bravo! I too am inspired to sell off the twin bed that is rarely slept on by a guest to create, if not a room, at least some "space of her own". Thanks for that great post and happy creating in your lovely nook.
