Ode My Deco Files: Art Filled Rooms.

Hanging artwork can be tricky...too much, too little, too high, too low...it's all very subjective, but you know when it looks just right. This is lucky number thirteen in my Ode to Domino's My Deco series, and a reader asked if I might dig up some inspiration to share with you in regards to hanging artwork in Domino's My Deco Files. There was plenty to inspire and it was hard to stop. I like so many looks, from the kind of random look of pasting a patchwork of Polaroids to a wall, to an organized gallery of fine art, it all appeals to me in different ways. I tend to hang my art at eye level, and I'm short, so maybe it's too low for some, but I like it that way...where I can see and appreciate it up close. Here's a look at some varied ideas from Domino's Deco Files for eclectic and eye-catching collections.

my favorite "ode" so far...

i am an art collector obsessive who is also quite fearful to make the commitment of framing and hanging. thus...many boxes filled with perfectly lovely, but never seen, artwork.

hopefully this will quell my fears and motivate me to decorate my walls!

Very cool victoria; a couple are your humble abode, right?

thanks for the inspiration. I did an open frame vignette in my studio. I'll have to share that soon.

I love these.

Nice to see this post. I have a lot of artwork and photos that I need to hang and I wasn't quite sure of how I wanted to do it.

These all look so nice. I really like the black & white or the old fashioned ones. The ones with the gold frames are pretty nice too. Thanks for sharing this!

i very much enjoyed this post. you really hit something here. so inspired now. seriously and i was just beginning to feel the inspiration sort of numbed away- i chalked it up to too many design blogs, too many ideas, no clear direction- but this post had a theme. i did a similar one on stacks of dishes and my love for them and it struck me as one of my all time favorites that i had posted. i think this may be the reason. a focus. thanks a bunch! i nicked a few for my blog for future inspired posts (with focus from now on!!).

Gosh! I needed this inspiration. Even as an artist, I get so confused about hanging art. I have so many pieces I adore that I want to display, although too many pieces, are way too visually stimulating for me...I like to mix nonframed things into the mix and somehow it all becomes overwhelming and most things wind up not getting hung at all....these were all lovely arrangements...and not overdone.

Lots of pictures! Good call, I can't live without filling up my walls. I enjoyed seeing some of the more innovative ways to decorate (i.e. lots of smaller photos on the fire place)

inspiring set of photos, love looking at each one :)

btw, you seem to move around your framed artworks a lot. how do you hang them? i live in a rental and can't use hooks or nails - any ideas? thanks.

i'm so glad you all felt some inspiration!

and I just use nails...and spackle when it doesn't turn out as planned. :)

These are beautiful and remind me of what I've been meaning to ask you. How do you put up your frames and artwork? By using nail and hammer or duct tape? I've always been curious.

Kristen - I usually use nails - and if I move something, I just spackle and touch up the paint. But a stylist was here with some 3M velcro adhesive strips that worked great for smaller pieces.

WOW. You have officially inspired me to create an art wall. I love that one with the framed eyes, and basically every single one you featured.

This is going into my bookmarked pages pronto. Thank youuuu!
