Weekend Update.

I've been pretty busy lately, adding (and subtracting) some fun new design elements to the apartment. Something I do often enough to be considered some kind of nut. But, I've been really trying hard to commit to the 'one thing in; one thing out' rule. I don't always succeed, but hey, I'm a work in progress. I minimized the gallery wall significantly. Mostly just because I'm looking for a cleaner look and I was just kind of tiring of it. I also found an amazing painter who painted my hallway and one dining room wall a lovely shade of Restoration Hardware's Atmosphere Blue. Let me know if you'd like his number. I also added a few inexpensive white Ikea Farm Vases and some Anthropologie votives in the living room and I scored on some great Crate & Barrel bar stools on craigslist. A mere $50 for both! Yeah, craigslist! I also picked up a new Ugly Doll, Moxy. Don't know why, but Ugly Dolls give me a big smile. Change is good; change is fun. Cheap change is even better.

hi victoria,
i'm thinking of painting my bedroom and am debating whether to do it myself or hire someone. would you mind saying how large the room was and how much your painter charged?
thanks!

He painted a bathroom, about 54' sq. feet and a hallway about 9'w x 9' h and another wall in the dining room about 9' h x 10' w. All for $200. I bought the paint, but he brought all the brushes, drop clothes, buckets etc. He was so professional, neat and a very nice guy.

Love the blue and the new stools! Kinda sad to see your picture wall go but I know all too well that when something just doesn't do it for ya anymore, it's got to go.

Victoria, would you please come and do my house!? Love the blue wall color...and the "Keep Calm and Carry On" wall art is great...it's my new motto!

Wasn't I just recently reading about "Keep Calm and Carry on" being a government instated motto from WWII? Typically British - Pip pip, stiff upper lip, never mind you might get the bejesus bombed outta you!

Love the duck egg. The apartment looks so serene and wonderful, and seriously good find with the stools. Ain't decoratin' GREAT?

That's exactly where this poster orginated - this is a reproduction.

And - thanks! I do love decorating - thus the constant changes.

I understand the need for change but the gallery wall was one of my favorite parts of your apartment! I printed out photos of it and pasted it in my inspiration book and now I've been art up left and right on eBay to replicate it. If you decide to get rid of any of your art, let me know! Or maybe you can bring the wall back slowly.

Hi Denise - I think it's the 28 x39 Ribba frame from Ikea @ $25.

Anon - So sorry I disappointed you by taking the gallery down. Just needed a cleaner look. I may have some pieces for sale (the ones that aren't personal photos) - if you're interested just drop me an email.

Thanks CeLee! Again, inexpensive white Färm Vases from Ikea ($1.99 each!) and there's four different designs. And the barstools are great - I love the swivel! :)
