sfgirlbybay seeks sfboy.

Okay, so Grace at the beautifully restyled, shiny new design*sponge was kind enough to post the photos from the feature on my apartment in Australia's Real Living magazine. She also posted my giant head. My friends have been telling me for a while now to post my own personals ad on the blog - if you haven't noticed, I don't make mention of a guy in my life right now, other than my dog Coop! So, this seems like an opportune time to get out from under my piles of blog ideas and paint chips and put myself out there. Should you know someone who knows someone who's looking for an sfgirl, email me and let me know. This is pretty risky, ridiculous and of course, somewhat humiliating, but you never know...right? Naturally, like all those people who post personal ads: I like long walks on the beach at sunset...a bottle of chilled white wine, romantic dinners by candlelight ...blah, blah, blah....oops, sorry, who seriously writes that stuff? And then there's those guys who invite you over for a gourmet meal and then make spaghetti out of a jar with pasta that's all gummy and stuck together. Actually, when I think about it, I am totally fine with the spaghetti out of the jar and the candlelight, and should he wear geek glasses, is a tad bit arty and owns a hammer or a paint brush, well that's just swell! You get the picture.

On a final note, Jo from Desire to Inspire was also kind enough to scan the photos and add them to her flickr photos, if you'd like to see more of the Real Living feature. Thanks Jo!

What a sweet message! Sadly I'm not in SF so can't help, but fingers crossed: I'm sure you'll find your man before you know it.

I just looked through Jo's wonderful Flickr images of your space featured in Real Living and it looks awesome Victoria - you have to get your hands on a copy and frame it or something, it's such a gorgeous shoot. Congratulations, this is huge!

The photos of your apartment are GORgeous, you must be SO pleased and proud (I know I'd be looking at them every hour or so and giggling, it it were me)

Wow, this so brave of you! And your "ad" was really funny, as well. I could need a new partner as well, but would never have the guts to do what you just did... I hope you hear from some nice guys!

What better place to meet the man of your dreams than on your own blog! Wouldn't that be fabulous if Mr. Right is already one of your readers?! I met my husband at Red Lobster of all places, so you really just never know. :) Congratulations on the beautiful magazine spread!

hey, i met my husband on the internet when i lived in SF. he lived in San Jose. we dated for a year and a half then he proposed at the top of a waterfall in Yosemite! So, posting your pretty pic on the internet... IT REALLY CAN WORK!

question, did those lovely shutters come with the apt or did you install them?

Your place is amazing…and perfect! I love it. Lots of character, but not overdone! The Flickr images are beautiful. Congratulations! I’m adding you to my blog listing. I’m looking forward to hearing about your future dates. You are too cute and you’ve opened the “web” door of opportunity. Very exciting! -Natalie

I subscribe to your blog and I had not noticed the lack of mention of a significant dude until I was reading your previous post. I though how your style was very similar to what mine was before I was married and I thought, "How does she get away with so much girly stuff in her home? I'm so jealous!!!"

I think I get away with quite a bit with my spouse, he's mostly easy going though I did have to promise to keep our home a 'no doily zone' and I usually feel like I need to get concensus on the decorating because, after all, it's his home too.

So, I guess my point is, there are some things we married ladies really envy about the single gals we know, and just being able to decorate your environment however you want is only one of the myriad pleasures we recall enviously from our single days. So, while you're still waiting to meet your soul mate, you can take a little joy from that.

i think you are very pretty, and your hair is so nice! don't be humiliated about telling people that you're looking for someone. there is nothing to be humiliated about! if i didn't live halfway around the world, and have a serious lack of interesting single men in my life as well, i'd try to help you out. good luck!

SO cute! I'm single in Boston, bla. Dating is so much harder than decorating. I hope that one of your readers know of a cool guy. If anything, you can have “fun” awkward dates.

I hope you're not really embarrassed! This is so cool & so brave & so brilliant. I wish I were half so out there with the really important things I'd like in my life. I've got a strong feeling this is going to be the beginning of a terrific bunch of adventures for you!

lol, if you get some submissions that just aren't right for you, send them to san jose! where *do* you find boys who appreciate crafty DIY girls? there's no shortage of men here in SJ, but none seem interested in enthusing over power tools with me...

i think you're balls-out brave. best of luck!

I actually think you'd be a great match for my brother, but he lives in Brooklyn (he's a dog person! he loves to cook! he's a nerd! he's great looking! he loves fossils, mountainbiking, and computers, but also reading, good music, and art! he's into housewares and home decor! and...he's newly single!) Well, if you ever decide to move to New York, let me know. I'll do the same if he heads for SF. ;)

I just know the right sfboy is out there for you - replete with tool belt, a penchant for flea markets, and mad skills! Good luck - you deserve someone wonderful!

Ooh I think you may have just opened the floodgates … now we're all going to expect updates. I wish I had a popular blog where I could post for dating help! This is awesome! Unfortunately I can't help as I'm single here in Boston. Good luck!

p.s. nice feature!

I am in Chicago, but know some single guys in SF, NONE of which are cool enough for you.

This is the problem! See, you don't need just any arty guy with geek glasses, you need one who appreciates the intricate placement of the decorative items in your home! You need someone who swoons over your refinished $5 sideboard! Otherwise your going to end up with all your blog groupies coming to San Francisco and ganging up on some poor unsuspecting guy who isn't good enough for you.

Oh and we would do it too. :)

I'm surprised Coop isn't a total dude magnet, he's a fine looking puppy.

May I echo everyone else's sentiment that you are very, very lucky indeed not to have a man following you around your home wondering why there is so much "stuff" everywhere (I am a sucker for tiny bowls. Can't help it.)
